Hi Mike, could you let me know what I need to do to be able to provide ECAWA attendance certificates for the satellite unconference?

Greetings Mike,

What a potentially powerful e-communication tool is Echalk 2.

I will need to explore its capabilities so as to learn its potential.

Congratulations and very Well-done,

Mike McGarry

how about an ECAWA session on CS3 generally, looking at all the new features, the integration and interactivity. Finishing with Flash and the changes there.

Hi Mike,
Yes you're right there aren't too many Spicer-Wensley's around. Peter's my husband. He often talks about your posts to echalk.

Thanks for your welcome, Mike.
I'm only learning to use these new networking tools. At my last school (a Catholic primary) I was always frustrated at not being able to use these tools with the students because we had dinosaur computers that were not maintained. There are many teachers out there who would be attempting a lot more if they had the support of adequate hardware. It's a real problem and feeds the so-called "digital divide".

Hey Mike - can't shut me up.
The guys on the treadmill are the Band OK Go - Here It Goes Again (not Here We Go Again must be getting old and deaf as well as blind) is the song title and it is often played on RAAAAAAGE - for night owls like me.

The vid is here:

To date it has only had 28,980,195 views :-)

Bye.

Ning in the classroom - week 10

So far my classroom ning has not been as successful as I had hoped. I really thought my students would take to it and write volumes about what they were doing and why they were doing it. But the reality is that they just didn't - and their output and reflections were much the same as when we just used notepad.

They have now started on their first major project and so I am hoping they will be more inclined to diarise their progress. Of course, I will need to encourage them by providing some more… Continue

Ning in the classroom - Week 1

Hi

I eventually got all of my students onto my 12imedia ning site. One of my students said something like "Oh this is just like myspace only it is just ours".

Of course we had the filter for social networks on (cathednet myinternet filtering) so I put in an exclusion for "12imedia.ning.com" which worked well except when they went to join, the special non-machine readable set of characters came from another location so the students could not see the graphics file. So now "ning.co

Ning in the classroom

This thing called Ning has got me thinking.

Last year I introduced my students in Interactive Media to Bloggs and used Tumblr (http://www.tumblr.com/) because it easily let my students add not only text but photos, quotes, links, chat, audio and video. As well I could follow them and they could follow me. I also used RSS feeds to my pageflakes account to aggregate this into one window. See my Tumbr blog here

Echalk 2.0 going well

Well, this is a supprise. Last count there were 39 members already and we have only been here a few days. I am also impressed with the diversity of those who have joined. I would like to see all members have some sort of image or avatar of themselves even if it your pet dog. (Don't dogs often reflect their owner?)

I must admit that I am still having fun trying to get the site to do what I want it to but so far I am impressed. For example, I thought
